Brexit Vote Sound Libraries

Since the United Kingdom’s European Union membership referendum in 2016, Brexit has become one of the most divisive political decisions in present-day Europe. And no matter which side you’re on as a British citizen or what you think about it as an outsider, the months leading up to the original Brexit date of 29th March 2019 have been historical for British Parliament. In three so-called ‘meaningful votes’ the House of Commons decided whether to accept and ratify the Brexit withdrawal agreement that Prime Minister Theresa May had negotiated with the European Union. The following sound libraries were captured on the evenings of these meaningful votes in Westminster, just outside of Parliament.

You can download the collections of my recordings as three sound libraries for free under the CC0 license - all I ask is to not sell them on their own or as part of a library or similar.

Brexit Vote 2 - 12th March 2019

Recorded in Westminster. This time not on Parliament Square, as it was closed fo the public. The activists positioned themselves along Abingdon Street. Again I recorded both Leavers and Remainers. The recordings include ambiences, crowds, singing, cheering, insults and the reaction to the result.

Brexit Vote 1 - 15th January 2019

Recorded around London’s parliament square in the heart of Westminster. People’s Vote campaign activists gathered on the green to follow the voting process inside of the Palace of Westminster. Remainers and Leavers alike campaigned around Parliament and expressed their views. The recordings include ambiences, crowds, chants, cheering, walla and helicopter sounds.

Brexit Vote 3 - 29th March 2019

Recorded around London’s parliament square and along Abingdon Street in the heart of Westminster. Leave campaigners and marchers gathered next to parliament and waited for the outcome of what basically was the third meaningful vote on Brexit. The recordings include leave campaign chants, general walla ambiences, crowds, clapping, a marching band, bells, vote results reactions and plenty helicopter sounds.
